Tony Budzik was a rare four-year starter for the Mountaineers from 1989-1992, playing all four seasons for head coach Tom Ackerman. Over the course of his career he played in 107 of 108 possible games scoring 1,358 points. When he graduated in 1992, Budzik was the fifth leading scorer in school history and ranked first in career assists (489), three-point field goals (171) and free throw shooting percentage (367-410, 88.2%). Budzik is the top free throw shooter in PSAC history and still ranks seventh in school scoring, third in assists, fourth in 3-point field goals made, fifth in steals and fourth in games played. In his senior season in 1991-1992, BUdzik helped the Mountaineers to a 16-11 record and was fourth in the PSAC East in scoring averaging 15.5 points per game. He also led the PSAC in assists (159) and free throw percentage. In his senior season Budzik was twice named PSAC East Player of the Week and became the first player in seven years to earn First Team All-PSAC East honors. He was named MU Winter Athlete of the Year and was the first player in PSAC history to lead the conference in free throw shooting all four seasons. He left Mansfield holding 11 school, conference and national records.
