Charity Learn was a four-year standout for the Mountaineer cross country, track and swimming programs. She was the first female runner in school history to earn All-American honors when she finished 33rd at the NCAA Division II National Cross Country Championship as a junior. A trailblazer for women's athletics, Learn was also the first women's PSAC individual champion when she won the steeplechase at the PSAC Outdoor Championship during her freshman season. Learn finished second overall in the 2002 PSAC Cross Country Championship which still remains the highest finish in school history. She was the first female runner to qualify and participate in the NCAA National Outdoor Championship, doing so twice in her career in the steeplechase and the 5,000 meters. A school-record five time selection for MU Female Athlete of the Year honors, Learn was also outstanding in the classroom earning Academic All-America honors and graduating with a cumulative 3.97 GPA.
