Mansfield Athletics

Turano was a two-sport athlete at Mansfield playing baseball and basketball.

On the hardwood, he played in 43 games in two seasons ammasing 183 points and 162 assists. At the conclusion of the 1982-83 season, Turano left basketball to focus on baseball.

A three-year starter on the '82, '83, and '84 seasons, he posted a 10-7 career record, striking out 89 batters in 116 innings pitched. He was drafted in the 7th round of the 1984 draft by the Toronto Blue Jays, leaving Mansfield after his junior year to play professional baseball.
