Bill was the head basketball coach at Mansfield from 1963 through 1967, and the head baseball coach from 1964 through 1965. His basketball teams were PSAC eastern div. and PSAC champs in 1963-1964, and NAIA Dist. 30 champs that same year. His team also captured the NAIA Dist. 19 title in 1964-1965. Bill’s basketball teams at Mansfield hold the following distinctions: The first MSC team to play in the NAIA National Tournament (1963_, where they advanced to the national Quarter-finals in Kansas city by winning 2 games; made second consecutive NAIA national Tournament in KC in 1964-1965; played in 3 NAIA district finals (1964-1966), winning two; set a PSAC points per game record, 90.7 average in 1963-1964; set PSAC single game scoring record against Lock Haven, 140 points in 1963-1964; broke Cheyney’s 67 game regular season winning streak (36 straight in PSAC play) with a 63-62 overtime win at Cheyney on February 1, 1967.
