Soprano, a Sayre native, was considered the premier running back on the football team in one of the most successful eras in school history. A four-year starter under head coaches Tut Moore and Rod Kelchner from 1964-67, Soprano earned All-PSAC 1^st-Team honors as a senior. He was a co-captain and leading rusher on the 1967 team that posted a 6-3 record, the most wins for the program in 27 years.
