Leon Kelly was a four-year starter on the offensive line for Mansfield State Normal School and was considered one of the best linemen of his era. Karl Van Norman selected him as one of the best tackles to play at Mansfield in the first 50 years of football. Kelly would go on from Mansfield to the University of Pittsburgh where he was a three-year starter on the offensive line. He was team captain from 1913-1916, including the 1914 state championship team.
