“Gazook” played football, basketball and baseball. Playing both fullback and quarterback he was described as the “star player of the school.” In his senior year the team recorded a 6-3-1 season. All 6 wins were by shutout. In 1918 the basketball team was undefeated with Gazook being the top player, scoring over half of the points on the team that season. But baseball was his forte! He was the star pitcher and also played shortstop. He went on to play baseball professionally with the New York Yankees as a member of the 1927 World Championship Team.
