Mansfield University Athletic Hall of Fame
John played football at Mansfield from 1959 through 1962, winning three varsity letters. For two years, John was a two-way starter playing offensive guard, defensive middle guard and defensive tackle.
John was named honorable mention Little All-American in 1961 and 1962, 1st team All-PSAC in 1962 and 3rd team AP All-Pennsylvania in 1962.
He was a three-year starter at offensive guard, and a two-year starter at both offensive guard and defensive tackle. He was the team captain in 1962 and the MU Flashlight Athlete of the Month during the 1960 season. He was given the Phillip DeWitt Memorial Award by the athletic department following the 1962-63 season.
