Mansfield University Athletic Hall of Fame
Byron Singer was a dominant force for Mansfield University baseball from 1980 to 1983, anchoring the lineup as a versatile first baseman, catcher, and designated hitter. A cornerstone of the program's historic 1980 PSAC East and Atlantic Regional Championship teams, Singer combined rare defensive flexibility with elite power. Over his four-year varsity career, he rewrote the record books by blasting a then-record 17 home runs in a single season and setting the program's career mark at 30 home runs.
Singer’s legendary 1983 campaign cemented his legacy: he swept the team's offensive categories—leading in everything except batting average and stolen bases—to earn Team MVP honors. He was also named the university's final year-long Athlete of the Year. A three-time All-Conference selection (1981 Designated Hitter, 1982–1983 First Base) and 1983 Preseason All-American, Singer's sustained excellence earned him a well-deserved induction into the Mansfield University Athletic Hall of Fame.
