A transfer from Bucknell known as “Big” Ed, Mollahan was a three-year letter winner in football playing defensive and offensive tackle and tight end for Ted Casey. Mollahan started every game in his career except one. Distinctions include fastest tackle in opponents backfield and downfield on kick-offs; most blocked field goals; and most blocked kicks. The Mountaineers counted on Mollahan to catch runners down field on an open field tackle whenever the runner got through the line. He scored seven touchdowns and was the team’s leading tackler twice.
