Mansfield University Athletic Hall of Fame
Palmer played volleyball from 1980 to 1983 and was an outside power hitter and back row receiver. She also played second base in 1982 softball. She went to 3 National Championship tournaments of Division II volleyball. She ranked third in spike kills (815) and second in career service aces (248). The team was ranked in the top twenty nationally, and number one in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region in the 1983 season. Sandra is quoted as saying “our accomplishments reflect the maturity and determination of our 10 dedicated players.” The team was 144-31. Against Division I opponents the team was a respectable 15-3. Palmer’s uniform number was retired.
