A four-year letter winner, Tim Fenton batted .400 or better in each of his four seasons with the Mountaineers. During his freshman season, Fenton hit .600 in 23 games. In 1990 he batted .416 as a starter, hitting .415 his junior season. As a captain of the 1992 team, Fenton led the Mountaineers to the PSAC East and PSAC and Northeast Region titles, earning them their first ever trip to the NCAA Division II World Series. Fenton hit .424 that season to become the Mountaineers first ever NCAA Division II All-American. He was also named the ECAC South Player of the Year and named to the All-PSAC East, ECAC South and North Atlantic Regional All-Star teams as well as the PSAC and North Atlantic Regional all-tournament teams. The 1992 Mansfield University Spring Athlete of the Year, Fenton was also an outstanding student ending his career at Mansfield with a 3.55 GPA and became the first Mountaineer to ear 1st Team GTE Academic All-American honors. Fenton batted .425 during his career at MU with 211 hits including 39 doubles, 11 triples and 21 home runs. He also scored 165 times while driving in 138 RBI’s. He ranks in the top five in Mountaineer baseball history in games, at-bats, hits, runs, doubles, triples, walks and batting average. He is seventh in home runs with 21.
