Track & Field ready for midseason test at JMU Invitational

HARRISONBURG, Va.- Nearing the midway point of the season, the Mansfield University track and field teams are set to face some of their strongest competition to date at the JMU Invitational hosted by James Madison University, on Saturday April 17.
 
This meet will offer the Mounties a chance to measure themselves against Division I competition as Mansfield stands as the only Division II team competing in this meet.

THE FIELD
Mansfield University, James Madison W, VCU, Delaware, George Mason, Elon, VMI, Radford, William and Mary, Morgan State, American, and Richmond.
 
RAPID IMPROVEMENT
The Mounties will send 22 athletes to compete in the JMU Invitational to jockey for positioning of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) leaderboard.

Sophomore Henry Polanco (11.12) and junior Sean Ringgold (11.15) rank 13th and 14th in the 100-meter dash, respectively.  Ringgold also sits at tenth and Terrance Quaker at 14th in the 400m dash.

Sophomore Rylie Mong moved up to fourth in the PSAC in the Pole Vault after her 3.34m mark at Alfred State Early Season Invitational. Junior Donoven Cook jumped in to a qualifying spot with a 6.54m mark in the Long Jump.

Sophomore Christian Tanner launched up to eighth in the 800m run, with his performance at the Alfred State Early Season Invitational but will extend his race and compete in the 1500m.

The 1500m will hold the most Mountaineers as 12 athletes will compete. On the women's side, Carly Daniels, Aneisa Dodson, Tedra Harrison, Shelby Alexander, Emily Gerlach, and Bailey Morgan will compete. For the Men, Tanner, Kevin Heeman, Riley Transue, Abraham Calderon, Micheal Grundon and Simon Richards are slated to compete.

The Mounties travel to Shippensburg, Pa. to compete in the the Paul Kaiser Classic on Saturday April 24th.
