Alli McGovern went 3-4 with three runs and three RBIs and
Alexis Easling earned the complete game victory to lead Mansfield to a 9-1 win in game two of a PSAC Central doubleheader at Lock Haven on Tuesday.

The Mounties fell 5-1 in game one to split the day.
Â
Mansfield is now tied for fourth in the PSAC Central along with Pitt-Johnstown with 6-6 divisional records. Both teams are a game out of the third and final playoff spot in the division behind Lock Haven at 7-5.

Game 1
Lock Haven (21-15, 7-5 PSAC Central) opened the scoring in the third inning, plating a run on a pair of hits and an error to take the 1-0 lead. The Bald Eagles pushed across a pair of runs in both the fourth and fifth innings on a combined seven hits and an error to extend their lead to 5-0.

In the top of the sixth,
Lacey O'Donnell broke up LHU's no-hit bid with a deep shot that hit the very top of the outfield fence and somehow bounced back into play. The freshman raced around the bases for a lead-off triple. Two batters later, McGovern grounded out to second base, but it was enough to score O'Donnell to put the Mounties on the board.

Mansfield (12-12, 6-6 PSAC Central) got a runner aboard in the top of the seventh on
Leah McGovern's hit over the infield, but would not be able to bring home any more runs.

Lock Haven ace Bekah Slattery threw a complete game two-hitter with one earned run, a walk and 14 strikeouts to win her 13
th game of the season.
Arianna Young took the loss.

Game 2
Mansfield wasted no time getting the offense going in the nightcap as
Joelle Snyder drew a lead-off walk and
Alli McGovern reached on an error in the top of the first.
Deshae Jones moved the runners over on a sac bunt to set up an O'Donnell RBI single.
Devin Jones and
Lesley Fritz drew back-to-back walks to force in another run, giving the Mounties a 2-0 lead.

Lock Haven got one back in the bottom of the frame on Chloe Kennedy's solo home run.

The game was locked at 2-1 until Mansfield strung together a big fourth inning. Fritz opened the inning by drawing another walk then
Hannah Breitigan and
Alex Hein reached on bunt singles to load the bases. Snyder plated a run with a hard hit ball to the shortstop and an
Alli McGovern double down the left field line clearing the bases to bring in three more for the Mounties.

Dehsae Jones reached on a bunt single and moved to second on a heads-up play to grab an unprotected base.
Alli McGovern scored on a passed ball and Jones moved over to third.
Hannah Swartz capped a big six-run inning with an RBI ground out to plate Jones.

Starting pitcher
Alexis Easling settled in after the first inning and worked five straight shutout innings to keep the Mounties ahead.

Alli McGovern led off the top of the sixth with a single through the right side and
Deshae Jones walked. O'Donnell reached on an error by the pitcher as McGovern raced around the bases to score another run for Mansfield, reaching the eight-run margin.

The Eagles went down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the sixth as Mansfield ended the game an inning early via the mercy rule.

Easling improved to 8-7 in the circle, allowing five hits with one earned run, one walk, and four strikeouts. Kayla Gee was hit with the loss.

McGovern went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBIs. Six different Mounties collected hits in the game.

Mansfield hosts Clarion on Friday and IUP Saturday at Helen Lutes Field in a key weekend series.
