Baseball Helps Send Aid to Puerto Rico #GiveBackMU

MANSFIELD – The Mansfield University baseball team pitched in to send aid to hurricane victims in Puerto Rico recently.

The Mountaineers, along with several other groups on campus, assisted the relief effort organized by Mansfield University employee Edgard Domenech who is a native of Puerto Rico. Domenech has a large number of relatives, including his mother, still living in Puerto Rico.

Domenech, with the help of the campus and the local community, collected canned goods, water, personal hygiene items, batteries, clothing and monetary donations. The baseball team came together to help package dozens of aid boxes that were sent to the people of Puerto Rico.

The baseball program was also involved with the Warren L. Miller Race for Education and pumpkin carving along with support of the Mansfield Food Pantry and the Wellsboro Animal Shelter.

GiveBackMU is a month long focus on how the Mansfield University Department of Athletics and its student-athletes support the local community with charitable acts and volunteerism. The culmination of the GiveBackMU campaign is on Tuesday, Nov. 28 when Mansfield holds a special Day of Giving in association with the global Giving Tuesday movement.

Alumni, supporters, and friends of Mountaineer Athletics are kindly asked to make a gift on the Nov. 28 Day of Giving to help provide opportunities for Mansfield student-athletes and further the mission of the university. 100% of gifts given through Mansfield's secure online portal are tax deductible.
