MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Mountaineer baseball team (12-32, 2-12 PSAC East) hosted the Shippensburg Raiders (27-17, 14-10 PSAC East) on Friday (April 24) afternoon, with both games won by the Raiders.Â
Game One: Shippensburg 18, Mansfield 7
Peter Tadic earned his fourth home run of the year starting the scoring for the Mountaineers.
Billy Riggs was walked which advanced Brinden Floyd to home.
Cooper Rother had a long single up the middle to bring Kahale Burns and Evan Laredo home for a lead of 4-0.
Shippensburg was scoreless in the first but were able to pick up six runs in the second, 6-4.
In the fourth, Ryan Sekulski had a single up the middle to bring in two more runs of Slade McTigue and Tanner Hoffman to tie up the ball game.
The Raiders were able to pick up four runs in the fourth, seven in the fifth and one in the sixth to give them an 18-6 lead.
Burns was able to single to short stop, which gave Floyd time to score finalizing the game 18-7.
Game Two: Shippensburg 3, Mansfield 1
Tyler Swineford played 4.0 innings and had three strikeouts, Evan Woznick had two strikeouts in 1.1 innings and Austin Beauchamp had two strikeouts in 0.2 innings.
Both teams sat scoreless in the two innings, when the Raiders snuck through with two run in the third.
In the fifth, Rother was able to hit a single to third base, giving Burns the chance to charge home, 2-1.
Shippensburg followed up in the fifth to collect the final score of the game with a home run over the right center field fence, 3-1.

The Mounties are set to host Bloomsburg, Thursday April 30th, at Joseph Shaute Field, for their final home games of the season. With first pitch starting at 1:00 pm.
