You Are Still Part of Mansfield Baseball
In 1867, only two years after the Civil War, students at Mansfield State Normal School, including Civil War veterans, formed the school's first baseball team. They could not have known they were beginning a tradition that would continue for generations.
Every player who later wore Mansfield across his chest became part of that story.
We came from different eras, played for different coaches, and experienced different levels of success. Some were All-Americans, champions, record holders, or professional players. Others were starters, reserves, role players, managers, or teammates whose contributions never appeared in a record book.
Every one of us helped carry Mansfield Baseball forward.
We remember the long bus rides, the field work, demanding practices, memorable victories, difficult losses, and the responsibility of being accountable to the people beside us. Most of all, we remember the friendships and the pride that came with representing Mansfield.
Our playing careers may have ended, but our place in Mansfield Baseball never did.
Whether you left Mansfield recently or have not returned in decades, you remain part of the program.
Why The Mountie Club Was Created
Mansfield Baseball has produced championship teams, NCAA World Series appearances, All-Americans, professional players, respected coaches, and memories that have lasted well beyond the final out.
The program has also experienced challenging times. College athletics continues to change, and building a strong program requires greater resources for scholarships, recruiting, player development, year-round preparation, facilities, and the overall student-athlete experience.
Those challenges do not diminish Mansfield Baseball's history. They make it more important for the generations who built the program to reconnect and move it forward together.
The Mountie Club exists to honor the history of Mansfield Baseball, reconnect the people who built it, support today's Mountaineers, and help strengthen the program for generations to come.

We understand that alumni have not always been consistently connected with Mansfield Baseball. That relationship will not be rebuilt through one letter, one event, or one request.
It begins by opening the door.
Joining The Mountie Club does not require an immediate donation, volunteer commitment, committee assignment, or promise of future support. The first invitation is simply to reconnect and stay informed.

As The Mountie Club grows, alumni will have opportunities to help advance scholarships, training resources, facilities, mentorship, alumni events, career connections, and other priorities that strengthen the experience of current and future Mountaineers.
No one will be expected to participate in every area. Each member can decide how involved he would like to become and how he may be able to help.
The most important step right now is rebuilding the connection between Mansfield Baseball and the people who helped shape it.
Mansfield Baseball was built by generations of players who cared about the name across their chests and the teammates beside them. The Mountie Club is our opportunity to bring those generations together again.
