BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Mountaineer baseball team (12-34, 2-14 PSAC East) competed against the Bloomsburg Huskies (26-18, 13-13 PSAC East) on Thursday (April 30) afternoon, with both games won by the Huskies.
Game One: Bloomsburg 11, Mansfield 9
The Huskies started the game with a triple down the right field line to bring in two runs early.
Tanner Hoffman singled to right field, which brought in Evan Laredo starting the scoring for the Mounties in the top of the second.
Slade McTigue had a single to left center that brought in Cooper Rother.
Ryan Sekulski followed up with a single through the right side that brought Hoffman home, 3-2.
Bloomsburg was able to score five runs in the fourth inning taking the lead again, 7-4.
The Mounties scored five of their own in the fifth with hits from Kahale Burns, Rother and McTigue, giving them a lead 8-7.
The Huskies added two more runs in the sixth, which pushed them ahead again, 9-8.
Sekulski had an RBI single to right field, where Rother was able to come home, tying up the game.
Bloomsburg had a walk off home run in the eighth adding two runs to the board 11-9.
Game Two: Bloomsburg 9, Mansfield 4
The Huskies had eight unanswered runs, four in the first inning, two in the third inning and two in the fourth inning.
In the fifth inning, the Mountaineers were finally able to add runs to the scoreboard.
McTigue had a double down the left line allowing Hoffman to score, 8-1.
Peter Tadic had a double into left center, which allowed McTigue to score.
Billy Riggs had a single to left field, bringing home Tadic, 8-3.
Bloomsburg added another run off a wild pitch.
The Mounties scored again in the seventh but were unable to over come the lead, 9-4.
