No. 23 West Chester Scores Three Second Half Goals to Sink MountiesMANSFIELD – West Chester scored three second half goals to break open a tight game in recording a 4-0 win over Mansfield in a PSAC matchup Wednesday afternoon at the Soccer field.
The teams battled to a scoreless draw over the first 41 minutes of play until West Chester's Kate Parvel scored off a long pass from Carly Yost giving the Golden Rams a 1-0 halftime advantage.
Mansfield (0-3) had opportunities in the first half with
Bri Carr getting off a shot on goal in the 13th minute while
Nikki Ortiz placed a shot that went over the crossbar by inches fourteen minutes later.
The Mountaineers got one more shot on goal late in the half by
Brielle Filtch's attempt was saved by Alex Srolis.
West Chester (3-0) scored off a deflection in the 53rd minute and added another score a minute later when Yost hit from 15-yards out, putting the game out of reach.
Alana Greenawalt and
Sarah Nezelek combined to stop eight shots for Mansfield while Srolis was credited with two saves for West Chester.
Mansfield travels to East Stroudsburg on Saturday.
