MANSFIELD, Pa. – Following their first season under the helm of Head Coach Spencer Reinford, the Mansfield Mountaineers women's soccer team is prepared to utilize the foundation set in 2025 to succeed in the 2026 season.

Reinford, in his second season, still stands determined in this new chapter of the program, building and advancing it into something exceptional. The team is just as hungry and ready to put all their hard work into play.

"If one person is late to practice, the whole team is. Our culture is built on executing everything as one team." Reinford said. "The importance of family to this program has been important through this change, keeping each other responsible and motivated. The leadership on this squad has made it easy for our freshman to fit right into the culture." 

The Season Ahead

The 2026 season marks the next step in this new chapter of the program and will offer no handouts. The Mounties open the year on Thursday (Aug. 27) with Salem University coming into town, their first test of the work put in during the off season. The team then hosts another home matchup against Shepherd just two days later (Aug. 29), marking their first conference matchup of the season. Mansfield will host nine game on Mansfield's campus, while hitting the road nine times as well. 

"I'm really excited for this new season. The girls worked a lot on their fitness over the offseason, which is a standard in my program and going from a roster size of 13 to 19 players will play a huge role in our success this year." Reinford added. 

Standout Players

The Mountaineers enter the season with a roster size of 19, including eight freshman and 11 returning players. Returning player, Brynn Knepp, will serve as the team's captain this year and Sybil Thompson and Aaliyah Stocks also seek to make an impact in their second year as a Mountaineer. Goalkeepers Serenity Esterline and Angel Gulé will continue to lock down the net for the Mounties.

The program has also added eight freshman who are ready to get to work. "The freshman has adapted quickly," Reinford said. "Alexis Wright and Isabella Andrews are two new Mountaineers who look to make their mark this season."
