RALEIGH, NC – Senior Kate Pratt tossed a 1-hitter and hit a home run while Courtney Bauder homered and doubled to drive in four runs to lead Mansfield to a 12-0 win over Virginia Union in the first day of the Shaw Tournament in Raleigh, NC Saturday.

Mansfield dropped the opener 4-0 to USC-Aiken.

In the nightcap, Pratt allowed just an infield single in the third while striking out four and walking win in picking up the win. Mansfield struck in hard with two outs in the second inning getting run scoring doubles from Laura Larson and Stephanie Simmeth along with home runs from Courtney Bauder and Pratt.

Bauder would provide much of the offense hitting a double, home run and driving in four runs. It was Pratt's recond extending 33 home run of her career.

In the opener, USC-Aiken broke up a scoreless pitching duel with four runs over the final two innings in a 4-0 win over Mansfield in the season opener for the Mountaineers at the Shaw Invitational Saturday.

The two teams battled to a 0-0 tie after four innings.

In the top of the fifth, Mansfield got its best scoring chance of the game when freshman Laura Lawson led off the inning with a single. Fellow freshman Kayla Allen followed with a single but Lawson was out on throw from the right fielder. Senior Stephanie Simmeth singled giving Mansfield runners at first and and second. One out later, Kate Pratt reached on an error to load the bases before the threat ended on a pop up.

USC-Aiken, playing its 10th game of the season, scored run in the bottom of the fifth with two outs and added three more off Mansfield starter Emily Crandell in the fifth on two home runs.

Simmeth, Lawson and Allen had Mansfield's three hits while Crandell went the distance, throwing hitless ball through the first four innings. She allowed for hits and struck out four in taking the loss.

Morgan (3-2) picked up the win striking out 12 and walking four.
