Mounties Fall Twice at Lock Haven
LOCK HAVEN – Mansfield struggled to ignite its offense in dropping a pair of PSAC Central games at Lock Haven Tuesday afternoon.
The Mountaineers dropped the opener 3-0 and lost the nightcap 6-0.
The sweep drops Mansfield from a three-way tie for first in the Central with Bloomsburg and Lock Haven, to third place with a 3-3 conference mark.
In the opener, Mansfield starter
Caitlin Klobosits and Lock Haven's Brianna Jennings threw hitless ball for the first two innings before Mountaineer freshman
Taylor Stupski had a one-out single through the middle in the top of the third.
In the bottom of the third, Lock Haven scored the first run of the game on a two-out double by Nicole Smith. Alicia Cacciotti added a two-run double two batters later.
Klobosits scattered five hits over six innings in suffering her fourth loss in 13 decision on the season. The senior struck out two and walked one.
Jennings fanned nine and walked just two in improving her record to 13-1.
In the nightcap, Lock Haven scored four unearned runs off MU starter
Kate Pratt and the Mountaineers could never recover.
Freshman
Ashley Inman replaced Pratt and was charged with two runs before
Emily Crandell threw 2.2 hitless innings.
Sarah Morse went the distance for Lock Haven, striking out three and walking none.
Mansfield will host Bloomsburg on Friday starting at 2:30 p.m. at Helen Lutes Field.
