Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mansfield sweeps Barton – Klobosits fire one-hitter in the opener.

WILSON, NC – Senior Catilin Klobosits fired a one-hitter to beat Barton 2-0 in the opener and Kaitlyn Harris drove in three runs in a 7-4 win in the nightcap as Mansfield swept Barton in a NCAA Division II softball doubleheader Tuesday.

In the opener,  Klobosits, who had thrown her first collegiate no-hitter days earlier, baffled batters giving up just one hit in the game but, unusual for her she didn't record a strikeout either. The game was tied until Kaitlyn Harris singled in two runs in the sixth inning.

Stephanie Simmeth made the save of the day on a diving catch in center in the seventh to preserve the win.

In the nightcap, Mansfield pounded out 11 hits and rallied from a 3-2 deficit with four runs in the fifth inning to pull out the 7-4 win.

Freshman Ashley Inman got the start on the mound allowing just two hits and no runs over the first three innings. The freshman gave up a 3-run home run with no outs in the bottom of the fourth before being relieved by Liz Pieniazek . The hard-throwing junior allowed three hits over three innings and struck out two before senior Emily Crandell closed out with a perfect seventh inning to preserve the win.

Kate Pratt got Mansfield on the board first with a two-run home run over the left center field fence for her team-best fifth round-tripper of the season.

Trailing 3-2, Mansfield got four runs with two outs in the top of the fourth with Danielle Long driving in the first run with a singled followed by freshman Taylor Stupski plating another run with a double.  Harris smashed a hard-liner that went off the left fielders glove scoring two more runs and giving Mansfield a 6-3 lead.

Barton picked up a run in the bottom of the sixth to close to 6-4 before Harris singled in a run for Mansfield in the top of the seventh.

Mansfield improves to 7-5 and will travel to North Carolina – Pembroke tomorrow.
