INDIANA, PA – Kelly King threw a no-hitter in the opener and a shutout in the nightcap to lead IUP to a pair of 8-0 wins over Mansfield in PSAC Central softball action Sunday afternoon at Podbielski Field.

After pounding out 25 hits and scoring 27 runs in a doubleheader against East Stroudsburg on Saturday, the Mansfield bats had little pop against King who struck out seven and walk one in the opener. Mansfield's other two runners reached on errors.

Megan McCormick and Meghan Carney each had three RBI's in the first game as the Crimson Hawks put together an 11-hit attack against Mansfield's Caitlin Klobosits who fell to 3-3 on the season with the loss.

In the nightcap, Mansfield trailed 1-0 when Jordan Rishel singled with one out in the third, Allie Earl then put down a bunt single to put runners on first and second. Stephanie Simmeth reached on a field choice and Rishel moved to third but the Mountaineers couldn't push across the tying run.

IUP (16-8-1, 3-1 PSAC Central) scored three runs in the bottom of the third, two of them coming off a double by Jasa Mitchell to put the game out of reach.

Emily Crandell started and took the loss to fall to 3-3 on the season. Allie Earle went 2-2 from the plate.

King struck out two and walked none in improving to 10-3 on the season for IUP.

Mansfield (13-8, 1-3 PSAC Central) returns to action Tuesday when the Mountaineers host Clarion in a PSAC Central doubleheader starting at 2:30 p.m. at Helen Lutes Field.
