BLOOMSBURG
– Senior Melissa Baer pitched four shutout innings but the Mountaineer bats had a tough time against Bloomsburg's pitching in the first game of a PSAC Central division doubleheader.

The Huskies swept, winning the opener 3-0 and taking the nightcap 5-1 to extend their win streak to 19 games.

Mansfield threatened in the 5th with Kelly Pfleegor reaching with a single and Kaitlin Kramer reaching on an error. The Mountaineers couldn't convert the basemen into runs and went into the bottom of the 5th in a scoreless tie.

Bloom ended the shutout when Lacy Mauro scored on a Sam Pientack triple in the bottom of the 5th.

The Huskies put two more runs on the board in the 6th and held Mansfield scoreless to take the opener 3-0.

Pfleegor, Simmeth, and Kate Pratt all had a hit apiece for the Mountaineers.

In the nightcap, Mansfield recorded three hits through six innings but couldn't bring the runners home. Jordan Rishel put the Mounties on the board in the 7th when she blasted a solo shot over the left field fence to make the score 5-1 in Bloomsburg's favor. Rishel's homer was her first of the season.

Rishel, Pfleegor, Simmeth, and Janelle Antes all recorded hits for Mansfield with Rishel scoring the lone run.

Emily Young went 2-3 with two RBI's for Bloomsburg.

Mansfield falls to 7-12 on the season while the Huskies improve to 23-3 overall.

The Mountaineers are back in action on Wednesday, April 5th when they travel to Clarion in a PSAC crossover match-up.
