MANSFIELD, Pa. - Coming off back-to-back outstanding years in conference play (3-1) and a 6-2 overall record in 2025, a young Mansfield sprint football squad is hungry to get out on the field and continue their recent dominance.

Head Coach Mike Pearson, entering his first year as head coach, is well-determined and ready to take over the helm and lead the Mounties in their new and bright future.

Pearson brings over 35 years of experience at each level of football (Highschool, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and the Collegiate Sprint Football League) and was a part of the Mountaineers coaching staff in the early stages of the sprint football program (2011-2014), helping set a foundation for what the program was visioned to become.
He brings experience, positional knowledge, and a prolific amount of love and dedication to the game.

Pearson, approaching the start of the season, stated "I am most excited to see this team build on their success and raise the bar on accountability in all areas of student life."

Key Returners
Back for his junior season is the reigning Mansfield Fall Athlete of the Year, linebacker, Jackson Taylor (45 tackles | 8.5 tackles for loss | 1 sack). On the offensive side, running back Weston Bellows (9 rushing touchdowns | 846 yards rushing) looks to lead the charge for the Mounties.

The Season Ahead
The 2026 season will not offer any free passes and will remain just as competitive as years prior. Mansfield will have to keep their feet on the gas and remain consistent, much like in 2025.

Mansfield starts their season on Sept. 19, when they travel to Ithaca, N.Y. to take on Cornell University. Kickoff for the Josh Palmer Pigskin Classic is at 1:00 p.m. The Mountaineers stay on campus the next weekend (Sept. 26) and defend their home turf on Homecoming against Molloy University (2:00 p.m. kickoff).
