Making History, Chasing More: The 2025 Field Hockey Season Preview

Mansfield field hockey begins their 2025 campaign on Saturday with their annual tournament.

MANSFIELD, Pa. – There’s a quiet kind of anticipation as Karl Van Norman Field sits still for now, but this week it will come alive with the echoes of whistles, chants, and the relentless pursuit of progress.

Now in her 11th season at the helm, Coach Brittany Hansrote—a 2009 Mansfield alum and two-time All-American—has built a program hungry for sustained success. Under her leadership, field hockey has produced nine All-Americans and seen back-to-back Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) postseason berths—unprecedented for the Mounties.

The Era of Excellence

Under Coach Hansrote's leadership, the program has shifted into a mainstay member in November, looking for a third consecutive postseason berth. History has been made in each of the past two seasons, earning their first PSAC postseason home game and earning a victory in their quarterfinal contest.

Mansfield comes off another highlight season, as the Mounties secured their first back-to-back postseason berths and first PSAC Freshman of the Year in program history. The Mountaineers entered the first national poll and remained nationally ranked all season, while cementing two All-Americans and four All-Conference members.

The Season Ahead

Mansfield opens their campaign with the Dr. Art DeGenaro Classic—two games on home turf: Saint Michael’s (Sept. 6), Southern Connecticut State (Sept. 7), and Kutztown as part of the lineup of the two-day tournament.

Five non-conference games start September for the Mounties who do not have a true road contest until September 24. Conference action consists of nine battles, which conclude with Senior Day on November 1, before the postseason begins on November 4.
