GREENSBORO, N.C. – The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings released their All-American teams on Friday (May 30) morning and
Jacob Houtz stamped his name on his first All-American team, earning a spot on the Third Team. Houtz becomes the 18th Mountaineer to earn this accolade and the first since Jason Manwaring in 2002.
Houtz was named the ABCA/Rawlings Atlantic Region Position Player of the Year and the Mountaineers' First Team member since Wes Baylor in 2015, grabbing his second appearance after his Second Team bid in 2024.Â
On Tuesday (May 20), Houtz became the first Mountaineer to be named the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Region Player of the Year and was selected to as a D2CCA All-American Honorable Mention on Wednesday (May 28) morning.Â
On Friday (May 16), Houtz became the first Mountie to be named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Region Player of the Year since Jason Manwaring in 2002.
Houtz became the sixth player in program history and the first player since Ryan Wyland in 2007 to be awarded Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Athlete of the Year honors, while also picking up his first career First Team accolade.
