MANSFIELD Pa. The Mansfield Mountaineers men's basketball team participated in National Wreaths Across America Day on Saturday Dec. 13.
The team helped distribute wreaths in the Oakwood and Prospect cemeteries in Mansfield.
"Helping with the Wreaths Across America program is a great opportunity for our guys to give back to community. It helps to keep us humble knowing that there are so many others that bravely served our country in order to protect our freedoms and rights." Head Coach
John Szentesy stated. "Remembering and honoring our veterans during the Holiday times gives us an opportunity to reflect and appreciate what we have thanks to our military veterans."
Wreaths Across America is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to remember the fallen, honor those who serve and teach our children the value of Freedom. Wreath-laying ceremonies take place at over 4,900 locations across the country, at sea, and abroad, including Arlington National Cemetery, to honor veterans. Volunteers gather to place wreaths at the headstones of fallen service members.
