SHIPPENSBURG, Pa.- The Mansfield Mountaineers men's basketball team fell on the road to Shippensburg 96-72, on Saturday Feb. 21.
Four Mounties scored in double figures led by
Diarmid Stewart with 13 points.
Sterling Scott added 12 points. Both
Jackson Henry and
Nasir Brown each had 10 points.
Josh Franklin led the team with seven rebounds.
Mansfield (3-23,2-18 PSAC) and Shippensburg (13-13,8-11 PSAC) found themselves evenly attacking the basket being tied 15-15 eight minutes in.
Darrien Berrios Rivera hit by two three point baskets to jump start the Mountaineers. Mansfield took the lead on a Brown tree-point basket but that sparked the Raiders out scoring Mansfield 38-23 the rest of the half. Mounties trailed 53-41 at halftime.
The Mountaineers never could claw back the lead. Stewart scored nine of his 13 in the second half including a consecutive scoring streak of seven points. Mansfield would get as close as eight points before the Raiders would pull away again. Shippensburg would take the game 96-72.
