LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Jacob Houtz of the Mansfield Mountaineers baseball team earned the prestigious honor of being named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon (Apr. 22).
Houtz was the offensive force behind the Mountaineers series victory over Kutztown, posting two home runs, eight RBIs, five runs, and a .769 (10-13) batting average in the conference weekend.
In the first game of the series, a grand slam by the junior proved as the difference maker to help the Mounties claim the 10-9 victory. In the past seven games, Houtz stat line holds a .695 (16-23) batting average, 18 RBIs, 11 runs, and five home runs.
The junior and the Mountaineers have won five of their last seven games and will be back in action on Friday (Apr. 26) against Lock Haven for a PSAC doubleheader with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
