MANSFIELD - The Mansfield University men's basketball team will begin a three-game road trip when they head to Nyack College for a non-conference game at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19.
Newcomers
Trevor English (third, 22.7) and
Christian Simmons (ninth, 21.0) are the only pair of teammates that rank in the top-10 in the PSAC in scoring. English leads the conference in rebounds per game (11.7) and is currently third in field goal percentage (.684). The 6-8 center, English, dished out six assists in the Mounties (1-2 overall) last game against Frostburg State.
Garrett Cook is twelfth in the conference in 3-pointers made (eight) and senior point guard
Jahmir Green is ranked 23rd in the conference with 1.7 steals per game.Â
LAST TIME OUT
- The Mounties fell in a hard-fought non-conference contest to Frostburg State, 85-77.
- English continued his tremendous start to his senior season, pouring in 23 points and pulling in a game-high 17 rebounds.
- Simmons followed English's lead by netting 18 points and pulling in 11 boards.
- The Mounties had three players reach 10 rebounds in all of 2018-19. Simmons and English surpassed the total on the same night as teammates.
- Cook (11) and Green (10) were the final two Mounties to finish in double-figures. Green dished out three assists and added a steal while Cook was the only player in the game to knock down two 3-pointers.
- Jaz Ferrell is leading the Mounties in minutes off the bench as he logged 14 minutes and contributed four points last time out.
SCOUTING OPPONENT
- The Warriors (2-2 overall) dropped their first two contests of the year but have since won two straight and head into Tuesday's battle with a .500 record.
- The Warriors defeated Assumption, 84-76 in their last contest and were led by 19 points and five rebounds from Thomas Nolan. Jayden Dawson added 17 points and matched Nolan's total of five trifectas.
- Senior guard Kenneth Ford is leading the Warriors with a 16 points per game average.
LOOKING AHEAD
- The Mounties hit the road for a three-game road stand and will head to Greensburg, Pa. to take on Seton Hill University and California University of Pennsylvania this weekend.
- The Seton Hill battle is set for a 3 PM tip-off on Saturday and the Cal U contest will tip-off at 3 PM on Sunday.
- The Mounties return to Decker Gymnasium on Dec. 2 when they host Mercy College at 6.
