MANSFIELD – Fresh off a gutsy win over Millersville, the Mansfield University men's basketball team will face a key contest in their quest to earn a PSAC playoff berth when the Mountaineers host Cheyney University this Saturday afternoon on First Citizens Community Bank Court in Decker Gymnasium.

It is also First Citizens Community Bank/Breast Cancer Awareness Day as well as the 20th Anniversary Reunion of the 1997 PSAC Men's Basketball Championship team.

Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. for the men's contest.

Free tickets for the game are available at any First Citizens Community Bank location in Tioga County and MU students are free with ID.

Fans unable to make it to Decker Gymnasium can still follow all the action on ESPN Radio Williamsport with an audio line, along with a link for live stats, available at GoMouties.com.

ZTA will oversee fundraising and breast cancer awareness activities from their table in the lobby of Decker Gymnasium during both games.

Members of the 1997 men's PSAC Championship team that posted a 26-4 record and finished 10th in the nation will return to Decker Gymnasium to rehang their championship banner at halftime of the men's game.

Despite being short-handed the Mountaineers picked up a huge win in their 62-54 win over Millersville on Wednesday. The victory gives the team a split in the season series and put Mansfield one half a game behind Lock Haven for the sixth and final playoff spot for the PSAC East.

Mansfield held Millersville, which had scored 82 points in a win over previously undefeated and No. 5 ranked Shippensburg in their last outing, to a season-low 54 points.

Cedrick Powell topped four Mountaineers in double-figures with a game-high 15 points against Millersville with Jahyde Gardiner and Matt Tamanosky each adding 14 points. Malik Carter scored 10 points.

Mansfield won the first game of the season between the season posting a 87-73 victory at Cheyney in early January. Tamanosky led five Mountaineers in double-figures that game with a game-high 23 points with Powell scoring 19 points and Andreas Katopodis a season-high 18 points.

The Mountaineers are the only team in the PSAC to have four players who rank among the top 50 scorers in the PSAC including Tamanosky (16.9 ppg) and Carter (16.8 ppg) who both rank among the top 12 scorers in the conference.

Powell is averaging 11.8 points per game while Gardiner comes in at a 11.1 per game clip.

Rafiq Marshall tops the Wolves averaging 12.8 points per game. He scored 22 points in Cheyney last game at East Stroudsburg.
