Mountie Women and Men Travel to Cheyney Tonight to Take of Wolves in Key PSAC East Matchups
MANSFIELD – The Mansfield University women's and men's basketball teams will take to the road tonight when they travel to Cheyney for a key PSAC East doubleheader with Wolves at Cope Hall in a rare Friday night matchup.
Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. for the women's game and 7:30 p.m. for the men's contest.

A much improved Mountaineer women's program will be looking for its first PSAC East win of the season. Mansfield has played tough in most of its game this season including an impressive second half comeback in Tuesday 78-65 loss against West Chester.
The Mountaineers had four players hit for double-figures in that game led by senior
Tianna Jackson's 17-point performance. Junior
Brielle Kelly added 13 points and seven rebounds while junior
Mary Kate Rumbaugh recorded her second double-double of the season with a 12 point, 10 rebound effort. Freshman
Bella Ricci came off the bench to score 11 points.
Kelly ranks among the conference scoring, shooting percentage and rebounding leaders averaging 13.1 points and 7.9 rebounds per game while 42.4% of her shots. Jackson is averaging 11.2 points per game and has scored in double-figures in each of her last four games.
Cheyney stunned Bloomsburg 59-48 on Monday for the Wolves first win of the season. TaKayla Ellis scored a game-high 19 points.
Monday's men's game with West Chester was certainly the game of the year. The Mountaineers dominated the game and led by as many as 19 points with just under eight minutes remaining to force the game into overtime and then into overtime again before Mansfield came away with a 106-102 victory.
Junior
Matt Tamanosky scored 11 of his game-high 31 points in the overtime periods.
Malik Carter added 22 points while
Gerasimos Koutoufas scored 17 points and
Cedrick Powell 16 Powell.
Tamanosky ranks 7
th in the PSAC in scoring averaging 18.4 points per game and tops the conference in field goal accuracy hitting a remarkable 65.5% of his attempts from the field. Carter is13th in the conference in scoring averaging 15.5 points per game while
Jahyde Gardiner is averaging 11.8 points per outing.
Cedrick Powell is the Mountaineers fourth player scoring in double-digits averaging 10.0 points per game.
Cheyney has dropped its last four games including a 104-63 decision at Bloomsburg on Tuesday. Rafig Marshall leads the team in scoring averaging 11.0 points per game.
