Mounties Fall on Senior Day

pounded out four hits but Bloomsburg rallied twice to sweep Mansfield in a PSAC East doubleheader Friday afternoon at Joe Shaute Field.

Bloomsburg took the opener 7-4 before winning the nightcap 8-3.

Mansfield honored seniors Johnathon Earnest, David Forbes, Mitch Isenecker, Johnny LeClair, Brandon Miller, Quin Taylor, Stanton Tentnowski and Seth Tressler during pregame ceremonies before the opener.


In the opener, Mansfield jumped out to a 3-0 lead with three runs in the bottom of the first inning off five hits and two errors. Westyn Baylor drove in one run with a single to center with LeClair doubling to knock in another run.

Bloomsburg cut the lead to 3-1 with a run in the third and got to Mansfield starter Brandon Garrett for four runs in the fifth inning before the freshman was relieved by Louis Sick.

Mansfield got a run back in the back in the bottom of the inning on an RBI by Brandon Miller to close the gap to 6-4 but could pull not closer.

Tressler, Miller and LeClair each had two of Mansfield's five hits in the game. Garrett was charged with the loss.

Casey Cooperman went the distance to pick up the win for Bloomsburg.

In the nightcap, Mansfield took an early with when Tressler singled to open the bottom of the first, stole second for his 24th stolen base of the season, and moved to third on a wild pitch before being driven in by Eric Schanzenbacher.

Bloomsburg came right back in the top of the second scoring three runs on five hits. The Huskies added another run in the top of the third to take a 4-1 before Mansfield cut the margin to 4-2 when Taylor Hillson scored on an RBI by Miller.

Bloomsburg would score four runs over the next three innings to put the game out of reach.

Tressler had two hits and stole two bases giving him 25 on the season. Hillson also had two hits with starter Chas Parsons being charged with his first loss in four decisions this season.
Tyler Hill got the win for Bloomsburg.

Mansfield concludes the 2014 season at Bloomsburg tomorrow.
