FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mansfield Rallies Early to Defeat Hillsdale 10-9

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Mansfield erased an early deficit with seven runs in the first to defeat Hillsdale (Mich.) 10-9 on Saturday afternoon at Jack Russell Stadium.

The Mountaineer's Seth Tressler continued his red hot hitting at the plate, going 3-for-4 in the game with three RBIs, two runs and a walk. Tressler was just as efficiant on defense with six assists.

It marks the fourth straight game that Mansfield (8-2) has score 10 or more runs in a game.

Hillsdale (1-12) jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning, scoring four runs on two hits and an error.

The Chargers' lead was short lived though as Mansfield rallied for seven runs in the bottom half of the inning. Tressler scored the first run on a Westyn Baylor sacrifice fly to center before Johnny LeClair singled up the middle to bring home Eric Schanzenbacher. In the very next at bat, Renz took the first pitch he saw and drove the ball over the left field fence to tie the game at four runs apiece. With bases loaded in his second plate appearance of the inning, Tressler doubled with a well placed ball down the line to score three more runs and put Mansfield on top 7-4.

Renz's home run was the junior's third of the season tying him for first in the PSAC.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Tressler scored his second run of the game on an error after reaching with a single. Two batters later, LeClair singled up the middle to bring home Baylor and Schanzenbacher giving Mansfield the 10-3 advantage.

Hillsdale rallied in the top of the fifth with four runs on five hits then added another run in the sixth to cuts its deficit to 10-9.

Jeremy Mapstone pitched 4.0 scoreless innings to preserve the win and earn his third save of the season.

Zach Sacoman, who came on in relief in the first inning, earned his second win of the season after pitching 4.1 innings. Sacoman allowed four earned runs and five hits while striking out three batters.

Nolan Breymaier went 3-for-5 at the plate with a run scored for the Chargers while Ethan Wiskur recorded two hits, three RBIs and a run.

The Mountaineers travel to Port Charlotte, Fla. tomorrow to take on Farmingdale State at 2 p.m.
