FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Baseball Rolls Past Ohio Valley in 12-2 Win
CLEARWATER, Fla. –
Seth Tressler had a game-high three hits and three RBIs as Mansfield rolled past Ohio Valley 12-2 Friday afternoon to extend its win streak to six games.
The Mountaineers totaled 11 hits in the game and recorded 10 or more runs for the third straight outing.
Tressler put Mansfield (7-2) on top early, scoring on a ground out to the shortstop.
After two scoreless innings, the Mounties scored three more runs to jump out to a 4-0 lead.
Johnny LeClair scored the first run on a
Marshal Kiessling sacrifice fly. Two batters later, Stanton Tentnowksi scored
Anthony Renz and
Taylor Hillson with a double in the gap.
Westyn Baylor put another run on the board for Mansfield in the fifth, but Ohio Valley answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning to cut its deficit to 5-2.
Tentnowski and Hillson scored on an error in the top of the sixth inning before the Mountaineers exploded for five runs in the seventh. LeClair scored the first run of the seventh on a Hillson fielder's choice. One batter later with bases loaded, Tressler scored all three runners with a double to left.
Brandon Miller scored the final run of the inning on a Baylor RBI single to right field.
Jonathan Earnest moved to 2-0 on the mound after pitching 5.1 innings for Mansfield with four hits and two earned runs.
Zach Sacoman,
Matt Engler and
Dan Harms all pitched scoreless innings in relief.
J.R. Davis took the loss for the Scots allowing eight hits and six earned runs in 6.0 innings of work.
The Mountaineers take on Hillsdale tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Jack Russell Stadium.
