FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Pratt's one-hitter gives Mansfield split in final day of Snowbird Invitational

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Kate Pratt tossed a one-hit shutout and belted her seventh home run of the season to lead Mansfield to a 7-0 win over Minnesota-Morris in the final day of the Snowbird Invitational in Myrtle Beach Friday morning. Mansfield dropped a 3-1 decision to Rutgers-Camden earlier in the day.

Pratt turned in her best effort of the season on the mound, striking out a career-best 11 batters and walking none in tossing the complete-game shutout. Minnesota-Morris's only hit of the day came on a single through the middle by Kristy Hoge to lead off the fifth inning.

Mansfield opened the scoring when Amanda Goodwin hit a two-out triple in the second and scored on a single by Allie Earle. The Mountaineers added another run in the third when Stephanie Simmeth led off the inning with a single and advanced to second on a single by Pratt.  Simmeth later scored on an error.

The Mountaineers increased their lead to 5-0 with three runs in fifth with two of them coming on a single by Earle. Mansfield scored the game's final runs in the fifth on Pratt's two-run home run

Earle went 2-4 with three RBI's while Pratt and Simmeth each had two hits in four at-bats to lead the Mountaineer offense.  Kelsey Draper took the loss for Minnesota-Morris.

In the opener, Mansfield broke a 0-0 tie when Kate Pratt belted a two-out solo home run over the center field fence to give the Mountaineers a 1-0 lead.

Rutgers-Camden answered back in the bottom half of the inning, scoring all three of its runs with two outs in the bottom fourth inning on an inning extended by a Mansfield fielding error. Camden got all three of its hits in the inning, including a bases-clearing, three-run double by Jacki Leafy.

Although saddled with her second loss in eight decisions of the season, Klobosits was exceptional in all but the fourth inning. The senior lefty retired 11 of the first 12 batters she faced including six by strikeout. She stuck out eight in the game and walked none and now has 70 k's on the season in 54.1 innings worked with just 16 walks.

Mansfield improves to 9-7 on the season. The Mountaineers will open their PSAC Central schedule when they host IUP on Mar. 29.
