Lincoln Pulls Away from Mounties in Second Half – Pemberton Ties Record for Blocks in a Game
OXFORD – Lincoln got 52 points from its bench and outscored Mansfield 42-25 in the second half to record a 73-52 win over the Mountaineers in a non-conference contest at Lincoln Tuesday night.
Mansfield fell behind early and trailed 22-15 midway through the first half before Mansfield used a 7-0 run to tie the game at 22-22 on a jumper by
Joe Bell.
Five of Mansfield's seven points in that run were from Bell. Revitalized by Bell's play, the Mountaineers took a 27-26 lead on a free throw by
Onyema Utti with 1:39 remaining before halftime.
Lincoln (4-1) countered and used a 5-0 run to take a 31-27 advantage into intermission.
Lincoln increased its advantage to 40-32 three minutes into the second half and steadily pulled away taking a 55-41 lead with less than 10 minutes to play.
Lincoln connected on 18-25 free throws to Mansfield's 4-13 and outrebounded the Mountaineers 41-33.
Bell was the only Mountaineers to score in double-figures with 12 points and just missed a double-double with a game-high nine rebounds. He now has 1014 points in his career passing Joe Balascik (1002,1973-76) into 24th place on the all-time scoring list.
Charles Pemberton scored nine points and tied the single-game blocked shot record of seven set by Rick Sabec in 1991.

Stefan Whittingham scored a game-high 22 points to lead Lincoln with Derrick Washington adding 11 points.
Mansfield takes a much needed week-long break before hosting Kutztown in a PSAC East matchup on Wednesday Dec. 4.
