FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Turnovers Hurt Mounties in Exhibition Loss at St. Bonnaventure
OLEAN, N.Y. – Andell Cumberbatch scored 21 of his game-high 23 points in the first half to lead Division I St. Bonaventure to a 102-57 win over Mansfield in an exhibition game at the Rielly Center Saturday afternoon.
St. Bonaventure jumped out to a 12-2 lead after the first four minutes of the game before Mansfield countered with a 12-2 run to tie the game at 14-14 on a layup by senior
Kevonte McClain at the 12:58 mark.
The game was tied 17-17 five minutes later on a free throw by
Charles Pemberton before the Bonnies went on a 14-0 run, taking a 31-17 lead with eight minutes remaining in the half.
Mansfield was plagued by turnovers and cold-shooting, trailing 54-23 and halftime and never got any closer.
Mansfield committed 35 turnovers in the game resulting in 51 Bonnie points.
Newcomers
Ryan Krawczeniuk and
Xavier Warner each scored 10 points to lead the Mountaineers in scoring.
Onyema Utti added nine points.
Mansfield opens the regular season when the Mountaineers host Franklin Pierce Nov. 9.
