MILLERSVILLE – Brooks Rothschild threw a complete-game in an 8-2 win the opener and Tad Barton fired a four-hitter for a 7-1 victory in the nightcap to lead Millersville to a sweep over Mansfield in a PSAC East baseball doubleheader Friday afternoon.

In the opener, Millersville broke open a scoreless tie with four runs in the second inning with two of those runs coming on a two-run home run by Tyler McDonald. The inning was prolonged by three Mountaineer errors.

Mansfield cut the lead to 4-2 with two runs in the top of the third. Conor Thompson singled with one out followed by a Dylan Woodworth walk. Freshman Anthony Renz then singled to right to drive in Thompson. Woodworth scored when Matt Fisher reached on an error.

Millersville put the game away with three runs in the bottom of the fifth with two of the runs coming on a triple by Kurt Seiders.

Sick suffered his second loss in four decisions with Eric Conway and Joel Worthington coming in relief. Jon Moser had a double and Renz was 1-3 with an RBI to lead the offense.

Brooks Rothschild went the distance to improve to 6-2 for Millersville. He scattered five hits and struck out seven. Kurt Seiders went 3-4 with a double, triple and two RBI.

In the nightcap, Tad Barton held Mansfield to just one hit, a leadoff single in the first by Dylan Woodworth, through the first five innings.

Millersville scored two runs in the second, four, and fifth innings and held a 7-0 led until senior Brian Milliman got the Mountaineers on the board with a solo home run over the left field fence.

Danny Brown started and went the first three innings in falling to 1-5 on the season.

Barton struck out six in improving to 3-1.

Both teams meet in a doubleheader Saturday at Shaute Field.
