MANSFIELD –  Vinnie Redmond singled in two runs in the top of the eighth inning to help Le Moyne rally for a 6-4 extra innings win over Mansfield in the nightcap of a non-conference doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at Shaute Field.

Le Moyne also won the opener 10-2 behind a complete-game effort by undefeated Derek Zielinski.

In the nightcap, Mansfield jumped out to a 2-0 lead when Conor Thompson led off the bottom of the second with a single and Brian Milliman's double gave Mansfield runners at second and third with no outs. Mitch Iseneker drove in Thompson on a ground out and Milliman later scored on a sacrifice fly by Jon Taddeo.

Le Moyne tied the score with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth inning off a Mansfield error and sac fly by Redmond.

Mansfield retook the lead in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single by Dylan Woodworth for a 3-2 advantage.

Le Moyne got a run in the top of the fifth, scoring on a wild pitch to knot the score at 3-3.

Mansfield had a chance to win the game in the bottom of the seventh when Woodworth doubled with one out, but the Mounties couldn't push the winning run across.

After Le Moyne scored three times in the top of the eighth, Mansfield tried to rally again with Thompson delivering a solo home run down the left field line. Mansfield had two runners on with two outs but Le Moyne reliever Kevin Carroll struck out the final batter to end the game.

Mansfield out hit Le Moyne 10-6 in the game but committed three errors. Woodworth went 3-4 with a double and an RBI with Thompson going 2-3 with his third home run of the season.

Jeremy Mapstone started and went 3.1 innings on the mound for the Mountaineers before being relieved by Louis Sick. Matt Fisher came in in the sixth and pitched two scoreless innings before being charged with two runs in the eighth.

Erik Lambe relieved Le Moyne starter Mark Kuzma in the seventh to pick up the win. Kevin Carroll got the final two outs to pick up the save.

In the opener Le Moyne jumped on Mansfield starter Curtis Harpster for three runs in the first inning before closing the gap to 3-1 with a run in the second. Le Moyne added another run in the third to increase the lead to 4-1 but Mansfield cut the gap to 4-2 with a run in the bottom of the inning.

Woodworth had two of Mansfield's seven hits in the game including a double.

Le Moyne would put the game away with four runs in the top of the sixth, three of them coming on a home run by Kody O'Connor.

Le Moyne improves to 13-4 overall while Mansfield falls to 6-17.

The Mountaineers travel to East Stroudsburg on Wednesday.
