Mounties Open Second Half of PSAC East Schedule at Shippensburg Saturday

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mounties opens second half of PSAC East schedule at Shippensburg Saturday

MANSFIELD – The Mansfield University men's basketball team will open the second half of PSAC East play when the Mountaineers travel to Shippensburg's Heiges Field House this Saturday starting at 3 p.m.

Shane Wilber of ESPN Radio Williamsport will provide play-by-play and you can listen to the game and follow live stats at GoMounties.com.
Mansfield won the first meeting between the two schools earlier this season posting a 77-73 win at Decker Gymnasium behind a 20-point effort by freshman Joe Bell.

Both teams are currently tied for sixth in the PSAC East with 4-11 conference marks. Mansfield is 7-11 overall while Shippensburg is 7-14.

Bell has been sensational for the Mountaineers in his first season of collegiate basketball earning PSAC East Freshman of the Week four times this season. He currently ranks 15th in the conference in scoring averaging 15.0 points per game and is second in the PSAC in shooting percentage. Bell has scored 20 or more points in four of the last six games.

Junior Chuck Harper has also proven to be a reliable scoring threat for the Mountaineers ranking among the conference top 20 scorers averaging 14.2 points per game. Sophomore Kevonte McClain sports an 8.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per game average while Cory Henneghan is averaging 8.7 points off the bench and has developed into one of the most-deadly long-distance shooters in the conference.

Sophomore Kyle Bradley is averaging 8.6 points per game and ranks third in the conference in steals.

It will be a stiff challenge for the Mountaineers who have lost all nine games away from Decker Gymnasium this season.

Shippensburg has four players averaging in double figures in Will Royal (12.3 ppg), Jordan Stasyszyn (12.2 ppg), Dane Lauber (11.2 ppg) and Craig Van Scyoc (10.1 ppg).

The Mountaineers return home Wednesday to host East Stroudsburg.
