MANSFIELD –
Joe Bell and
Chuck Harper each scored 14 points but it wouldn't be enough to overcome a late 3-point barrage by West Chester as Mansfield dropped a 75-62 decision in a PSAC East game Saturday afternoon in Decker Gymnasium.
It was Senior Day for the Mountaineers with senior
Josh Dupuy and Dom Oliver were honored in pregame ceremonies.
Mansfield trailed 34-24 with just over five minute to go in the first half but used a 9-1 run over the next three minutes to close the gap to 35-33 on a 3-pointer by Dupuy two minutes before intermission.
After trailing by six with 10 second left in the half,
Dominic Oliver buried a 3-pointer to cut the lead to 39-36 at halftime.
West Chester increased its lead to 45-36 three minutes into the second half before the Mountaineers staged a rally, going on a 15-4 run over the next five minutes to take a 51-49 lead on a
Joe Bell dunk with 11 minutes to play.
West Chester (17-9, 14-8 PSAC) responded with the long-ball using three 3-pointers to fuel a 19-6 run for a 68-57 lead with six minutes to play.
Mansfield shot just 28% from the floor in the second half, making just seven of 25 shots from the floor.
Bell, who scored in double-figures for the 17th straight game, and Harper, who also added eight rebounds, were the only Mountaineers in double-figures.
Khalif Foster led four West Chester players in double-figures with 17 points and nine rebounds.
Mansfield ends the season with a 9-17 overall and 6-16 conference mark.
