Mounties drop a heart-break at Clarion 74-73
CLARION – Mansfield missed three free throws in the final 21 seconds and Clarion's Calvin Edwards hit a pair of free throws with 17 seconds left to lift the Golden Eagles to a 74-73 win in a PSAC crossover game at Clarion Friday night.

Kyle Bradley missed a 3-pointer from the top of the circle with two seconds remaining after Edwards free throws.
Mansfield took a 73-67 lead on a dunk by
Chuck Harper with 2:21 to play, but the Mountaineers missed all three shots from the floor and all three free throws in final 63 seconds.
Clarion lead for almost all the first half, leading 32-21 with just over three minutes remaining in the first half before Mansfield went on a 13-4 run to cut the deficit to 36-35 at intermission.
The Golden Eagles upped the advantage to 53-44 seven minutes into the second half before the Mountaineers went on a 12-2 run over the next four minutes to take a 56-55 lead on a 3-pointer by
Charles Becoats.
Chuck Harper led four Mountaineers in double-figures with 19 point while Bradley scored 17 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Becoats added 15 points, all of them coming off five 3-pointers while
Joe Bell just missed a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds.
Edwards scored a game high 22 points for Clarion with Paul McQueen adding 21 points and Bud Teer 18.
Clarion improves to 10-3 overall and 6-1 in PSAC play and extended its winning streak to nine games.
Mansfield falls to 5-6 overall and 2-5 in conference play.
The Mountaineers travel to Gannon Saturday.
