MANSFIELD – Senior guard Josh Dupuy led five Mounties in double-digit scoring as Mansfield (5-5, 2-4 PSAC) came away with an 81-67 victory over Roberts Wesleyan College (4-11, 0-3 AMC) Tuesday night.

Four days after shooting a dismal 32.9% from the field at LeMoyne, the Mountaineers found their form, knocking down 45.9% of shots in the friendly confines of Decker Gymnasium including an impressive 44.4% from behind the arc.

Mansfield surrendered the lead to Wesleyan with 12:33 remaining in the first half after leading for much of the opening minutes. The Raiders built their lead to as many as nine points but Mansfield went on a 24-11 run to close out the half with a four-point lead at 38-34.

In the second half, Wesleyan reclaimed the lead at the 13:03 mark, but a Charles Becoats 3-pointer spurred a 16-point unanswered run by Mansfield over the next eight minutes. The run would put the game out of reach for Wesleyan as the Raiders could only pull within 11 points. Solid free throw shooting by the Mounties down the stretch helped Mansfield secure an 81-67 victory over the visitors.

Dupuy went five-of-seven from the field while shooting eight-of-ten from the charity stripe to score a season-high 19 points. The senior also added three steals and assists.

Sophomore Kyle Bradley just missed a triple-double recording 15 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists on the night. Freshman Joe Bell scored 14 points and reined in 8 boards while Becoats and Kevonte McClain each chipped in 11 points apiece for the Mounties. Becoats was dangerous from deep, knocking down three-of-seven 3-pointers on the night.

Alif Brand led the way for the Raiders recording 25 points, nine rebounds, and seven blocks.

Mansfield is back in action Jan. 6th when the Mounties travel to play Clarion University in a PSAC West Match-up.
