MANSFIELD –
Nicole Yost and
Kate Pratt each hit home runs but it wouldn't be enough as No. 9 Bloomsburg scored the winning run in the 10th inning of the nightcap to sweep Mansfield in a PSAC Central doubleheader at Lutes Field on Friday afternoon.
Bloomsburg won the first game 9-0 in five innings on a no-hitter by Shavaun Fisher in the opener and edged Mansfield 6-5 in 10 innings in the nightcap.
The doubleheader also marked Senior Day with seniors
Janelle Antes,
Melissa Baer and
Nicole Yost honored in pregame ceremonies.
In the opener, Shavaun Fisher put on an overpowering performance striking out 10 batters while walking two. Fisher opened the game and closed the game by striking out the side in the first and fifth inning. She walked two and did not allow a runner past second base.
In game two, Mansfield took an early 1-0 lead in the nightcap when senior
Nicole Yost led off the bottom of the second with a screaming home run into the wind over the center field fence to extend her MU career home run record to 22.
Bloomsburg tied the score in the top of the fourth on an RBI single by Jenna Hampton but Mansfield scored twice in the bottom of the inning on a two-run triple by
Danielle Long to take a 3-1 lead.
The Huskies got three more runs in the top of the fifth to take a 4-3 lead but Mansfield came right back in the bottom half of the inning to score two more runs on a two-run home run over the left centerfield fence by freshman

Bloomsburg tied the score in the top of the sixth when Lacy Mauro hit a two-out home run to tie the game at 5-5.
Although both teams threatened to score, neither could push across a run until the international tiebreaker was employed in the 10th inning. Bloomsburg scored what would prove to be the winning run on Mauro's one out RBI single.
Pratt, who went 5.2 innings after relieving starter Caitlin Klobisits in the fifth, was charged with the loss. She allowed one earned run and struck out three over that span.
