Mansfield Offense Struggles in 76-51 Setback at No. 8 IUP

INDIANA, PA – Julian Sanders scored 17 of his game-high 21 points in the first half to lead No. 8 ranked IUP to a 76-51 win over Mansfield in a PSAC crossover game Sunday afternoon.

Mansfield never got its offense untracked and never led in the contest. The Mountaineer missed seven of their first eight shots and trailed 11-3 five minutes into the game. IUP extended the lead to 40-27 at halftime.

Mansfield shot 36.5% from the floor while being out rebounded 40-31.

Red-shirt freshman Joe Bell scored a team-high 11 points for the Mountaineers. It was Bell's second straight game in double-figures and the third time he scored in double-digits this season. Freshman Chukwuka Ikpeze came off the bench to score a season-high 9 points while Josh Dupuy added eight points and three assists.

Sanders was red-hot for the Crimson Hawks connecting on 7-12 from the floor including 4-of-5 on his 3-point attempts. Ashton Smith added 16 points while Josh Weigand scored 12 points.

IUP improves to 5-1 on the season including 3-1 in conference games while Mansfield falls to 2-3 overall and 1-3 against PSAC foes.
Mansfield will host Mercyhurst this Friday.
