Box Score

SYRACUSE, NY – Sophomore Kevonte McClain led three Mountaineers in double-figure scoring, but it wouldn't be enough as LeMoyne (6-5, 2-5 NE-10) came away with the 65-57 victory over Mansfield (4-5, 2-4 PSAC).

The Mountaineers found themselves trailing by 13 points with 7:06 remaining in the first before a 17-9 Mansfield run to close out the half made the score 34-29, cutting the LeMoyne lead to just five points. The Mounties never led in the first half and shot just 31% from the field.

Mansfield's run to close out the first half, continued in the second as the Mountaineers took over the lead via a Kyle Bradley lay-up with 16:19 remaining in the contest. A Becoats 3-pointer and a McClain jumper gave the Mounties their biggest advantage of the night, leading the Dolphins 44-37 with 14:29 to play.

Mansfield's 33% field goal percentage proved to be the deciding factor in the game as offensive production was hard to come by. LeMoyne went on to score 12 unanswered points to turn a seven-point deficit into a five-point lead for the Dolphins with under eight minutes to play.

A young Mansfield squad couldn't find their shot and fell with a final score of 65-57.

McClain led the Mounties in scoring with 16 points on the night, shooting 50% from the field and a perfect four-of-four from the free throw line. Junior Chuck Harper and sophomore Charles Becoats also hit in double-figures with 11 and 10 points respectively.

Joe Bell, who has twice been named PSAC Freshman of the Week this season, led the game in rebounding with 13. Bell also chipped in seven points and a steal.

Sophomore Nate Champion led LeMoyne in scoring with 16 points.

Mansfield is back in action when they host Roberts Wesleyan on Tuesday, Jan. 3rd at Decker Gymnasium.
