OLEAN, NY – The Mansfield University men's basketball team fell on the road to Division I St. Bonaventure Friday night in an exhibition contest in front of nearly 3,500 fans at the Reilly Center. Bonaventure senior All-American candidate Andrew Nicholson led all scorers with 17 points.
The Bonnies came out strong and jumped out to an 11 point lead before freshman forward
Joe Bell hit a jumper to give the Mounties their first points of the night with less than 17 minutes to play. Bonaventure, who was picked to finish fourth in the competitive Atlantic-10 conference, climbed to a 27 point lead with 3:30 to play, but Mansfield used an 11-4 run to close the game within 22 points at half.
Breland Roach led the Mountaineers in scoring at half, connecting on two of three field goal attempts.

Cory Henneghan showed their range, knocking down a three-ball each.
In the second half, the Mountaineer offense found its stride, going on a 19-11 run to cut the Bonnie lead to 16 with under 14 minutes to play.
St. Bonaventure's height was hard to defend as the Bonnies continued to find scoring opportunities against the Mountie defense, but Mansfield showed signs of production throughout the half.
Senior point guard
Josh Dupuy showed his ability to weave through opposing defenses, recording five field goals on the night. Dupuy, who was limited to three points in the first half, came out to put up 12 points against a tough Bonnie defense in the second.
The Division I squad was too much for Mansfield though, as the Mounties fell with a final score of 87-61.
Nicholson went 8-10 from the field while adding a free throw to lead all scorers with 17.
Dupuy led Mansfield with 15 points in just 25 minutes of play while Becoats proved to be an oustide scoring threat hitting four three-pointers for 12 points on the night. Dupuy also recorded three assists and a steal.
The Mounties travel to Division I Binghamton University Monday to face the Bearcats in exhibition game before hosting Penn College Saturday, November 12 in Mansfield's home and season opener.
